This custom Airstream Motor home was custom built requiring over 4000 hours and using the highest quality components available.
New Mercedes Sprinter cab chasis
new 19' Airstream Trailer
Some of the design features include:
Air conditioning system is mounted under the floor to aid in aerodynamics.
Wheel skirts and aircraft aluminum under chases, also for aerodynamics
Solid Maple Floors
3 solar panels equaling 250 watts
electric jack leveling system 4 total
Xantrex RV Series inverter/charger with 3 onboard batteries
15" flat screen TV/DVD
Interior custom built, created bed across the back, cabinets redone, new bath, new countertops
Pass threw underneath storage and ample additional storage compartments.
Custom fabricated lower storage areas, rear camera

This is not your typical motor home and I am aware that one can buy a run of the mill motor home for far less so no need to remind me of that fact. This is for an individual that desire a functioning work of art that will give years of enjoyment. This is a pleasure to drive and with the aerodynamics can return up to 20 mpg. This weighs in at 8900 pounds giving over 2000 pounds of carrying capacity. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

That's actually pretty cool, and looks to be nicely constructed. I'd be worried about the joint between the cab and the body, though. Just waiting to get a leak there once it starts flexing.

After all that work, I think I might have painted the cab silver, too, to be more seamless.

Looks like some rich, redneck ingenuity.

I like the effort, but they couldn't paint match the cab!?

I don't think there are too many rednecks in the Bay Area building $100k Airstream hybrids. Probably an engineer who wanted a challenge and had plenty of disposable income :-)

That's what makes them redneck IMO. Taking two good vehicles (assuming they were good and not partially wrecked) and making this. Interesting, but just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. That's the trend in technology today, making something Wi-Fi enabled even though there's little everyday use for it. Do I need a camera in a fridge, let alone a smart fridge? I've already fallen into the trap somewhat, with smart thermostats for my house. Neat, and interesting, but no great advantage.

Redneck is a mindset, not a location. I get why the idea was attempted "because he could" but I dunno, it seems less functional than a good Bambi trailer and a good Sprinter, and probably was worth more in two pieces than one.

Made me think of this:

Garage
An especially puzzling effort, considering Airstream themselves has already engineered/built/sold motorhome versions of their coaches, which are readily available....

.....but the idea of buying something that's already 100% built --- what fun is that?

Man, what I wouldn't give for that bottom one in 4wd with a little lift and wheels. Great pics!
