7.3L '97 Quigley EB - $15k....needs a bit of love

*** Not mine/no affiliation ***

On paper, this has all the good stuff...
7.3L, Quigley, EB layout, PH, not an outrageously high mileage....
But then there's that rust issue.

On the plus side, it looks like most of the serious rust is confined to the area of the driver-side rear lower quarter, and underneath the passenger-side rear-door....but the pictures aren't super-high-res and there's no photos of the undercarriage to visually confirm the whole story.

STILL --- looks like for someone who is handy with bodywork/metalwork, a potentially awesome deal (if the underneath isn't a basket case.) Good-lookin' SMB.

(Apologies if this has been listed elsewhere (or by its owner) --
Thought I remember a thread recently where people were discussing dealing with a rusty rig (and how body rust might also likely extend more seriously to suspension/frame structure))

Runs great and has lots of power. It needs work, (see pictures) but has great potential. These are high end expedition vehicles and in better condition sell for considerably more than I am asking. Serious inquiries only, please call for more information and pictures.

It was for sale a while back..

In that thread steveandlillian looked to be flying out to get it, so I guess that didn't happen (or this is a scam copycat ad).

Whenever I see one of these vans for sale with major quarter panel rust issues.......I always envision a cool project for someone with great fabrication skills. The idea I have in my head is to basically cut away all of the metal up to the contour line and replace with lockable metal boxes. If done well and finished well it would look pretty sweet and be really useful.

Think of all the storage one could create!

Sounds like a flip to me. Original seller was asking $11,500.

Curious if it's the original seller who opted to try and ask a bit more, or if it's indeed a flip as you're thinking. The van looks to have gotten an updated set of Ford polished aluminum factory wheels since it was last for sale.

Rust is such a heartbreaker.

After originally living in NY and Michigan, I've been on the West Coast for about ten years now.......am still thankful every day for a rust-free environment where vehicles don't disintegrate in front of you over time. (Unless you live within reach of the salty coastal mist/dew that settles on top of vehicles every evening.....)
