I believe this person thinks they actually own an all-wheel drive vehicle. Very strange, especially in that part of the world where you would think everyone knew what an AWD/4wd was.

I was talking to a co-worker recently who swore he bought his wife an AWD Taurus on Craigslist and got a great deal. AWD Taurus, I said? He responded that it was actually a FWD with traction control which was the same thing. I just nodded and moved on.

Ford does offer the Taurus in AWD, and has for several years.

Man. If only that WAS all-wheel-drive at that nice low ride height. That would be a sweet all-weather-capable family truckster.

[ All-wheel-drive + Van ] as a factory option, there's simply not enough of that combination offered to buyers of new cars these days. Minivans would probably sell wayyyyy better if they had some of the go-anywhere traction/bravado (and perhaps aesthetics) of SUV's....

**Remember the all-wheel-drive first-gen boxy Dodge Caravans of the late 1980's/early 90's? Those were freakin' neato....pretty sure you could get all-wheel-drive on first-gen Ford Aerostars as well. For sure everyone still seems to crawl all over themselves to snag an AWD Chevy Astro / GMC Safari.....

But yeah, no way is that CL listed 1994 Econoline an all-wheel-drive.....would require some Herculean engineering to make that thing AWD at that low ride height. They'd have to run one of the front driveshafts sideways through the oil pan..... (an engineering trick that the 4WD versions of the 2002-2009 Chevy Trailblazers used...check out their oil pans! There's a lateral open-ended tube cast into it to allow the driveshaft to pass on through. Only way to make it work with that tall inline-6 engine. Gotta love these crazy engineering solutions. )

Mike, that's crazy. I'd love to see a pic of it but no joy on Google.

I don't know. I think those running board may the ride height look a LOT lower than it actually is.

I looked up other Chevy AWD vans for sale, and I don't see much difference.
