That is a very interesting add. Place the add for the running gear and through the body in for free. Very creative.

Yep, I like that. It'll probably sell quickly that way.

I feel like it's more to get around emissions than to be creative.

Jage is probably right. In CA the seller is responsible for passing the smog check.

Re: Bolt on 4X4 kit for vintage ford vans So Cal

So....I have a 1987 SMB on the regular E-150 base, 302 engine and a remanned Jasper automatic transmission with the overdrive (if any of that matters). Apparently, I have the same disease many of us do that causes me to dream of a 4x4 conversion. Before I get too far down the rabbit hole, what do y'all think/know about the viability of bolting this with my van? Any thoughts or information or questions to ask of the seller and myself would be much appreciated.

Cory

PS - I live in Flagstaff, AZ so passing the smog test isn't an issue.

Cory, dont go down that rabbit hole!

If you're serious, contact Ramsey, Baja Sportsmobile here on the forum. He just converted a 1990 to 4wd!
Just sayin

Man I just couldn't live in Cali. Too much hassle to play with vehicles (read buy and sell them). A tag is $24 here, no checks of any sort, no emissions, no inspection. Don't want your cat? Cut it off! If you have a title for somthing you bought just take it to the courthouse with a BLANK title (no price in the price-paid box) and they will ask you what you paid for it. You just start answering low and go up until they are satisfied if you are trying to avoid paying taxes. They know the game. No creativity necessary.
