Craigslist to charge for Car/Truck FS ads
Craigslist is now charging for For Sale ad for cars/trucks.
I wonder if this will change the number of scam postings?

First thought is it may slow down the spammer scammers at least in the, auto for sale, section(s).
I suppose it was bound to happen sooner than later. Reminds me of the photo bucket squeeze.
Second thought is if my CC info would be secure .

Don't tell anyone but it's really a hell of a deal considering their reach. But we can probably thank the "flippers" who pose as private sellers. I swear, a solid majority of ads I reply to are flippers. They try to hide it but the truth is in the title - with their name not on it. I learned a new word the other day - never heard of it before - "curbstoning". That is the name of the game on CL.
Motorcycles can't be far behind (my main poison).

yep yep. I read the , auto parts, cars for sale-by owner, and rv's for sale-by owner.
The latter has been full of the most ridiculous form of ad structure.
Whatev.
Still free to look.

Herb, is this from a reliable source? I'm curious because I've heard that rumor for years. If so, it'll be the beginning of the end for Craigslist and I consider it a good thing. It's no longer pure, scams and dealer ads are the rule and not the exception anymore.
Ebay used to be the same way but is now not even thought of as an auction site, just a place to get the cheapest price on Chinese knockoff crap.
I loathe Facebook but Facebook marketplace is the next Craigslist.

No rumor. $5 per Craigslist.
Works for me. Facebook should charge also. Get rid of damn advertisements

Yep, I pulled that screenshot straight from CL.
I will agree with SMB123's view that the exposure for a For Sale ad is a bargain. Even eBay, where I placed a car FS ad after unsuccessfully trying to sell it locally for months, and next thing you know there was someone local who saw it on eBay and bought it directly from me.

eBay understandably doesn’t like getting cut out of the deal. I once purchased an item that turned out to be local, and after mistakenly replying to the seller through eBay suggesting we meet up, I got the flagged warning to not do that again or my account would be terminated.
I doubt the majority of the scammers on CL will be deterred by the fees, after all as stated, there is an option to get an account set up at a reduced rate for active posters.

About time. Most of the by owner ads here are from flippers who think that they aren't a business. It will just mean less that they can spend on plaid pants and white loafers.

There are plenty of other FREE listing sites for the scammers to list their scams upon. Facebook, Offer-up, Letgo and more.
Ultimately there will be a software workaround so the scammer's can continue to post on CL for FREE!!!
It's just a matter of time!
