Re: GTRV - Ready for Agile Off-Road 4X4 Conversion

does anyone know what brand of side window this is?

kind of hard to tell, but it looks like it follows the contour of a stock passenger van window. can anyone confirm this? i want a window in that spot, but i want it the shape of the factory passenger window with the slight slant to follow that bodyline. i know want in one hand...

That's a residential room AC unit on the rear driver's side door.

Remove the AC, the gaudy graphics advertising GTRV, and the granny boards -- you'd have a nice little 2WD rig.

Anyone know how pricey is it to replace a rear door?

You can probably find a rear at U-pull for $25.

I would probably make a nice black surround to make it look like an Aluminiess box, and hide it in plain site.

Why on earth would you replace an AC unit already on a van? Aren't you from Texas? they don't look bad at all to me, and they work great and are cheap to replace.
Look for a hole in my rear door soon!

Not all of Texas has 120v electricity -- at least, not the parts worth visiting like Big Bend, Guadalupe Mountains, etc.

I'm not sure I see the point in having things in a van which require hook-ups or a generator to run. But then, I rarely camp at a place with E/W hookups. I also don't see the point of having a marine toilet or a shower inside a van, but for some folks these are "musts." To each his/her own....

At one point the GTRV rigs were having problems with water leakage around the rear-door mounted AC units. I don't know how or if they solved the problem.

Anyway, I'm just dreaming for now...

Looks like the van has a happy new owner and we will be converting it to 4X4 mid Febuary.

This was a nice deal I wish I had bought myself.
