I have some experience with Los Angeles County fleet vehicles and I suspect that these state vehicles are pretty trashed mechanically. Might be good for someone who wants a real project.

If you can find a fleet vehicle that is only used by one person it might be in great shape. I really take good care of my fleet vehicle because it's mine, I'm the only one who drives it, plus it goes home with me every night, but if it breaks down I have to use the "old" spare vehicle. But the old spare vehicle was my old vehicle that I also took great care of. Just aint got the newer bells and whistles. It's those community vehicles you got to look out for that everybody gets to drive; like pool vehicles. Nobody cares about them. On the plus side their shop should have some kind of regular service...that's a good point. We have a Quigley 4x4 van that will be up for auction in the future and I'm trying to get a buddy to bid on it...it's in great shape.
