looking for SMB

HI Forum,

I am new here. I've done enough research to convince myself that I want an SMB.
-My budget is no more than $30,XXX (maybe if its a really unusual one i can possibly devout another 5-10k.)
-I am looking for a project and more hands on.
-2006/2007 or newer(of course exceptions can be made)
-not really brand specific(Merc, Ford, Chevy)
-4x4 a must
-again I want a project not a sit down and go, hence I'm looking for some sweat equity if you may

PM me if you know someone that has one thats looking to let go

You're probably looking for a blank interior kind of van at that price and wanting nothing older than an 06. Are you ok with that?

You need to do more research.

For $30k and a SMB 4x4 in a late model van you are looking at a complete wreck. Those don't pop up often and will likely be found at auto auctions after the insurance company dumps it.

Just search for a Quigley 4x4 van and go from there to get a good running project.

If you want a 4x4 complete Sportsmobile van for around $30k you will be buying a 1990s version. That is what a few of us have done.

Garage
For that price, two come to mind; One needs the interior built, other is 2wd, but you can build on that

Let me clarify, yes i understand my investment amount and my search criteria don't align but thats why I'm willing to put some sweat equity even if it involves me buying a wrecked van that needs work. I'm not terrified by auto auctions in fact, does anyone know of any websites that I can possibly find SMB's that will be on sale?

I would set up alerts on eBay. I don’t know if any other auction sites that reliably get smb lots. I’m sure there are some, but it would be once in a blue moon. These things hold their value well enough that they don’t get repoed much and when they are sold they end up with specialty retailers.

I would consider a Sportsmobile 4x4 an exotic specialty vehicle at salvage auctions. Heavy competition and relatively large cash up front.

Good luck in your search. If you post one up here expect expect lurkers to also investigate the purchase. So in that sense you are kinda on your own.

Totally agree. We are all friends here but it’s every man for himself when it comes to finding the good deals.
