Man I wouldn't even spend a plane ticket on this one, but to each his own. I hope he comes through and you come out with a good engine and not more than a week in Portland!

I think it's a diamond in the rough. We'll see though...

Re: Portland Craigsfist, 1999 sporty

I've bought plenty of things off craigslist with poor or no photos and even flakey sellers. Flipped a couple Engel fridges this way too. Some people just don't have the patience or technical know-how to post pictures. Add to that the fact that the guy may just want to be rid of this thing...

FWIW I think the price is cheap, heck if I sell mine in a couple months I'll be asking more than that.

I do hope it works out! If not, there's plenty of good beer in Portland to drown your sorrows...

He actually sounded like a nice guy. He works in SF and has a house in Eugene where the van is located. I guess that was the only picture he had on with him when he decided to post the ad...

I really do hope this all works out for you, but I have to say that this comes to mind;

I live in Eugene area, I think I've seen that van around town, looked good. If it would be of any service I could take a look at it for you. You'll be entering "Dead" country when you come here, even the minor league baseball team has a Dead night and the team has uniforms with the dancing bear on them. Good Luck Lance
