My first thought was like an engineer, "that vehicle landed hard, I hope the occupants walked a way".
My second thought was like an E350 owner, "if it only it had rear opening windows it would be totally worth the 15k".

The wheels and rubber look fine. There's $2000 right there. It's hard to tell but it looks like the penthouse emerged unscathed. That's $8000. Parting this thing out and someone could easily recoup the 15k. The axles if undamaged are easily worth 1k or more apiece. A dynatrac Prorock60 is 6k new?
But dollars and cents sounds kinda morbid. I really hope nobody got hurt in the accident.

They probably bought it back on the cheap expecting to sell it private party for more (and probably an accurate thought too). Buying back totaled vehicles from your insurance is often a very good buy. We've done it a couple times, one of them being driven for many years ofter the buy back, and the 2nd time did quick flip on craigslist the day after towing it back home (the guy drove away in it, even though we clearly advertised "not safe to drive").

Taking a closer look at the photos it looks to me like it was a low speed roll. Like dropping off the edge of the trail into a deep ditch and landing on its side. I base this on the passenger side being totally trashed while only the front quarter panel and door of the drivers side took a hit. The rear and drivers side past the B pillar look untouched. In addition the wheels and tires look perfect. If it was a high speed roll I think they would show more damage. Just my opinion.
I am assuming the passenger(s) were OK.

Well, I'll start... the ad sez something like "runs and drives perfect", so he demo's that aspect, by starting' 'er up, and dropping 'er down in drive
