Guess it was broken in to or stolen at one point. Still could be a deal if it's legit.

Hmm. I've had my insurance replacement SMB for almost a year and haven't even tried the door keys

My '97 didn't have a working remote.

I never use a key either. I hate having a vehicle without keyless. I just finally got it installed (aftermarket ) on my latest van.

In shopping for various vehicles over the past couple of years I have noticed that lots and lots of people see no value in keyless. I simply don't get it. Lots of modern cars have keyless as a standard, as in, you can't get them without it. I've looked at cars and asked about the key fobs and they'll say "yeah, I've got them in a drawer somewhere". Whut?

I'm one of those people that never uses a key as well. I forget why I opted to use the key on the driver's door one day and found that I too had a mismatched driver's door/ignition key. This was after about a month of ownership. Just never occurred to me to check the locks, the remote worked.

Wow, two threads showing extensive rust on SMB's roof's. Makes me happy my GTRV top is all fiberglass with zero rust.

Where are you getting your info from?
Over a million miles on my 4 vans not to mention the vans I drove for work and none of them had a worn out key cylinder.
Also a good locksmith can make them match if wanted.

Yikes, folks are getting a little testy around here lately, must be the crappy weather. Anyway, The number of keys and other junk hanging on your key ring can make a big difference in how long it lasts. YMMV.
