Re: STOLEN in SFO: GTRV 4x4

dang, thats a nice looking van. i really hope you can get it back. damn thieves

i hate to ask this in this thread, but does anyone know what window is installed behind the drivers side door on the van above? ive emailed gtrv and they cant tell me anything other than it might be a cr laurence window and crl cant tell me anything without dimensions.

correct me if im wrong, but the window appears to mimic the factory ford body line behind the drivers door and the front side slightly sweeps towards the rear of the van top to bottom (and matches that ford body line). if anyone has any info, please let me know.

I don't know anything about this window, but I remember that another member had a van built and got a driver's side rear window that followed the lines of the "window groove" in the Ford fan body. I can't remember his user name right now, but he has a gold van with matching gold fender flares, and three trailers (ah, right, I'll look in the trailer thread and post back). I remember him mentioning the window when the van was new.

Edited to add: Okay, it's member "maxacceleration," and you can see the window here:

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=6098&hilit=+window

I'm pretty sure he mentions more about it in other post(s). It does look sharp!

It's so horrible to think of one's pride and joy being stolen. Worrying about an accident is bad enough (presuming it really IS an accident and the driver is not on the phone or something), but something done totally "on purpose" like this is the worst!

I will continue to..

One question, why do you say it looks like it was a 'professional' job?

Recovered: STOLEN in SFO: GTRV 4x4

Thanks Everybody for the great empathy and for keeping your eyes peeled:

SFPD found my van, repainted and with fake license plates.
I'll pass on more info after conclusion of the ongoing investigation.

Uh, that sounds like they jimmied the window and reached in to unlock the driver's door...

Also, free paint job! In any case, at least it came back and isn't parts.

No they drilled thru the passenger door 2 inch below the handle. I'll ask for a new door.

Yeah, if it wouldn't void my insurance for future body accidents I'd drive it like this for a while, quite the hack-job that could protect from future break-ins, they ran out of paint in places. But it would be scaring people even more than the rig did as it was ...
Insurance should cover a first class new paint job -- the original paint was still perfect.

Yep -- though it's missing a few parts -- anybody got a spare 2005 GTRV patented folding sofabed ?
