Definitely. 7,000# E150's were only suitable for light-camper or transformer style builds.

The Ram 2500 van had a 7,800# GVWR so it was a good "in between" spec between the old E150 and E250.

My 1982 EB Dodge with a full interior including toilet was built on a 6600 lb GVWR B250 chassis. Overweight before you filled the cupboards and tanks and seats to hit the road.

I called SMB North and the nice lady on the phone had no explanation.

Thank you all, especially carringb, for some very helpful explanations.

I do feel better now, knowing I was most likely saved from making a mistake in my quest for another SMB.

I’ve read that the guys at GTRV in Sebastopol CA can still build me a full size garageable pop top van so I’ll be checking in with them next.

Thx again
