V10 Traverse- not mine

https://portland.craigslist.org/clk/...695900455.html

Found this V10 traverse for sale. 2006 60k miles in portland. Seems pretty nice. I have corresponded with the seller and he is pretty firm at $28.5k.

Nice van. I’ve been wanting a Traverse for a while but they are really hard to find. I’d be all over this if it was the 5.4. I don’t need the V10.

If you feel this way never drive one.....or you will instantly realize you do need the V10!

If you can get a good deal on a clean van that you like what is the rationale of turning it down bc it has too much motor? I don’t mean this to be anything but sincere, I genuinely don’t understand. And to answer what I guess will be the first point, how can one quantify the mileage savings over getting a good deal on a clean van? Are you really tangibly recovering enough per mile or year to say “yea it was worth holding out for the lesser motor to save 10-15% per mpg”. Seems like one would have to drive a heck of a lot of miles.

There’s a 5.4 traverse on RVTrader.com that’s been up for months at 24.5k. 2002 with 82k miles. I talked with the owner. It’s pretty clean but not perfect. He’s looking for best offer. It’s red. It’s in Reno nv

I originally didn't want a V10 due to all the negative remarks about poor gas mileage. When I found my van, I almost didn't call on it because it had the V10, but boy am I glad it has the V10 now that I tow a trailer. Plus, the gas mileage difference between the V10 and V8 isnt substantial enough to make me wish I had the V8.

Now the V10s are sought after because the 6.0's have such a bad reputation.

Sound advice.

The question is: what premium is worth paying for more motor? If you can get the same van for $3k less because it has the 5.4, do you do it?
