WANTED: Penthouse Pop Top FOR SALE

Hi everyone,

This is my first time creating a new thread! I've been searching all over the internet for a used manually operated Sportsmobile Penthouse Pop Top for a 07 Chevy Express 3500 with a 155" Wheel Base. I wanted to ask the Sportsmobile community for help locating this very rare find and to create a pop top selling forum to help other people like me in the future.

I would recommend checking wrecking yards also like copart.com. I have seen a few wrecked SMBs in there with salvageable tops.

What do you search in copart? I've been on that website frequently. Thanks for the quick reply!!

You're going to want to search for sportsmobile sportmobile, sports mobile etc. Also, look at campers and RVs. They can be hard to find because they never get classified correctly.

Also, keep in mind that you may have an opportunity to buy a van REALLY cheap with a top on it. I have seen a bunch of sub-$5k vans that have lots of rust or don't run. It's worth the price to get a top.

That being said, have you contact SMB texas? They will do a top for you for about $8k. Used prices are usually around $3k, so that $5k difference may be a deal killer, but it also may be the difference between waiting 2-4 years to find one or getting one now. They can usually schedule a top-only install within a couple weeks.

Going to be a real challenge to find one for a GM van, as they are definitely more rare than the Ford ones. Put your name in with Colorado Campervans, as they do a lot of retrofits of the SMB tops to their CCV tops and usually help the owner sell the old top.
