Another common issue is the turbo up pipes leaking, causes loss of power, black streaking on the pipes at the flange are a telltale sign. Not sure if this is what’s going on but worth looking into while you’re in there poking around. Doorman makes a set or you can pay a bit more for the original bellowed set, both are a fairly straightforward install.

Thanks for the information. At first glance it looks pretty straight forward. Will do some research to see what's involved.

Wanted to give everyone an update. Ended up taking the van to mechanic. They ran the scanner on it and it looked like the EBPV was sticking. They also said I had up pipe leaks a.d Oring issues at the turbo pedestal- which would explain the oily mess in the valley. Decided to try and do the work myself. New bellowed up pipes, EBPV delete pedestal, and new compressor wheel for the turbo. Took 2 partial days to get apart and back together. I am definitely slow when it comes to wrenching. Took Greta out for a test drive in the mountains and all seems good. More power, definitely quieter. Going to put a turbo blanket on turbo to replace the heat sheild I took off with the new EBPV deleted pedestal.

Nice job. You probably saved a lot of coin by DIY that project
