I finally had time to go out and wiggle the camshaft position sensor wire (a very tight fit to get my hand on it). I could just get my finger tips on the wire near the sensor. Moved it around a little, tried starting the van and .... it fired right up.
AAAHHHHH, It's the little victories. Turns out the P2614 code actually was right. Go figure. Now, to figure out if I can replace the sensor and section of wire up to the main harness myself, or hire it out. I'm sure I'll do it myself as I'm a little behind on my cussing lately.
What do you think caused the sensor wires to fail. Heat,vibration??? When mine did the same, the shop said the wires were too long and floppin around.

My hunch is it is because the clip attached to the wires that is suppose to be attached to the van frame structure is not attached and the wire is just flopping around with the weight of the clip hanging on the cable probably making it worse.
I ordered a replacement plug / pigtail assembly this morning and am going to try to fish it out to repair myself. Let the cussing commence!

Ford Dealer took it in luckily that same day and they were able to diagnose it and ended up being a faulty CMP sensor. They swapped it and fired up right away. This sensor is a $67 part which could have stranded me in Death Valley. :O I'm planning to buy this along with the ICP sensor for spare parts for long trips.
In theory should be a simple fix of the cable / connector, if you could only fish the old one out to make the repair. I tried and abandoned the fix and keep the new pigtail / connector in the van with me. I have had no problems since I "fiddled" with it a while back. Probably just a micro short somewhere that I moved enough stuff around that it isn't shorting any longer. I also keep a length of pvc pipe in the van in case I need to push the wires around again without burning myself on the exhaust if it is hot.
Van has been running great! (hope I didn't just jinx it ....)
