2006 6.0 trans wiring ID

My Lower Trans wiring is looking crispy so wanting to replace.
The cable on the van reads. 6C24-7C078-AA
Ford is telling me. 4C2Z-7C078-AA

Anyone knows the significance of the four leftmost characters ie 6C24. Vs 4C2Z ?

From where did you obtain the different part number? Does Ford show the 6C24 number as once upon a time fitting your vehicle?

The prefix numbers tend to designate the year and chassis/model of vehicle the part supposedly properly fits, as in a direct plug-n-play replacement. Ford has been known to superseded part numbers that might appear on a part so that might be the case here.

Looking on Ford Parts Giant 6C24-7C078-AA comes back as "part not found" but 4C2Z-7C078-AA does come back as a good part number that's obsolete today. I suspect that first number is an engineering designation and for us mere mortals it cannot be correlated to an actual part number.

Check these links for more information:

FPG: https://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts...=(20301;15772)

Tasca shows one being in stock but that might be subject to change when trying to order it: https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts...ly-4c2z7c078aa

Hope this helps!
