2011 E-series specs

For those interested, here's the 2011 E-series specs.
https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...ed_Chassis.PDF

Not many changes, however I did notice one significant change...

The E350 extended now comes with a Dana 70 full floater (has been done before.... it's come and gone depending on year) but now has a 10.5" ring gear. This is a first for the E350 van. My van came with a Dana70, but had the 9.75" gear originally, and I had the carrier swapped so I could have the larger 10.5" gears.

I have the 4.56 ratio, and at 22,000 pound it has to be a 15% grade and outside temp over 100F to make my diff oil get to hot ( my personal "too hot" temp is 280F, even though the gear oil specs say 330F).

Shorty vans still have a semi-float, and 9.75" gears.

FWIW - the E450 gets bumped up to 10.75" gears, and also got a bump to 22,000 GCWR.

Re: 2011 E-series specs

Not all the charts agree with each other. If you look at the chart for the E350 Regular/Extended van, it calls for the 9.75" semi-floating axle. The 10.5" full floater axle is listed for an E350 cutaway - that is where the Dana 70 (10.5") axle I got came from.

I'll bet it is just an error on the Rear Axle Specs chart, and the full-floater is not available on the vans, just on the cutaways.

Re: 2011 E-series specs

I don't know anything about axles, but from what I've read it appears that my '08 RB passenger van has a full floater (judging by the big hub coming through the rear wheel):

Is that right?

Does Ford sometimes throw in a different axle, depending on what's at hand?

Cheers,
Mike.

Certainly that picture is a full-floater. Why one would end up under an RB is anyone's guess.

We have the same van and my rear axle is identical. Maybe Ford standardized its axles by 2008?

Re: 2011 E-series specs

I have a 2008 RB passenger van that also has a full floater, it was one of the reasons I picked it up used and had it converted by Quigley. I was told by Ford dealership that it was an option but all the RSC vans seemed to have it.
