Even if the pan has a plug and even if it doesn't strip you still do not get the hose attachment that gives a big advantage at not getting tranny fluid all over the shop floor whereas the other does not.
Now if you screw in one of the same after-market plugs and JB weld it in and then you might have a solution that is equivalent.
Just a follow-up sharing my Mercon V fluid test results from Blackstone Lab received recently. I'll post it inside this reply plus attach a copy in case one is more clear than the other.
I will be reducing the mileage before my next change---make it closer to the recommended 30K, maybe going no further than 40K maximum. Because I've found a somewhat "easier" way to do this it will become pretty much like an engine oil change.
