Small correction... the van in the street has a SMB top but it's here for a full Expo Vans interior and to re-do some of the wiring and chassis work done at the previous shop.

The wife is good with pics but we're still working on the videography skills. :-)

I got to take a ride in this conversion today, very impressive. I also got to sit in one of those Scheel-Mann seats, also impressive.

Crazy how a year has already passed by since the "shredded torque converter" post!

Had the trans out one more time this past year for a billet flex plate install (power level is borderline too much for stock flexplate). Since then it has been trouble free. Unfortunately the van sometimes sits for a while but it starts up every time with no drama. I'm working it in to my daily driving more and more now. I just finished converting the engine over to a manual fan clutch...The ECM controlled fan wasn't working properly, causing some DTCs and temps would climb just a little more than I liked (never to the point of overheating but hotter than I wanted it to be for just driving around with no load on a 90+deg day). It's a pretty common conversion for the 6.7L and parts readily available, pretty easy install too. Lots of room to work under the hood. The new fan moves A TON of air compared to the original. Around town temps are way lower so far.

The Cummins/Allison combo is pretty sweet. Very smooth power delivery and it doesn't even have to work hard to get up to speed. It is so much different than the V8 van it started life as. Honestly it's different than any other van I've been in. Going to enjoy it a while longer, get it on a dyno to fine tune things a bit more and then get it ready to sell.

"DID HE SAY SELL!?"

Yes, I did say that. I am very proud to have accomplished this colossal project and I do love the van...however, as daily driver, I don't need this much van. As a family hauler, my wife and kids prefer traveling in the Transit. And, although I'd love to have a large collection of vehicles, I'd rather use what is tied up in this van for more R&D of exciting new ideas. Someone will get a virtually new van with a bad ass drivetrain.

This is 57 pages long so the answer might be somewhere in the mix...but did you keep the EGR and DPF systems?

My engine is from the era of EGR, DPF, SCR AND DEF. I did earnestly attempt to keep the engine exactly as it was from the original donor truck but the costs of sensors, modules and exhaust pieces exceeded a reasonable budget (considering that most of this conversion took place very shortly after the 4th gen engines came out and there was virtually nothing on the used market to bargain hunt for). If I were starting over today, it would be no problem to do a conversion with all of the systems in tact.

Right. Any idea on how that'll impact resale? I'm trying to get my arms around that at the moment on another van. Or another way of asking, what would it take to integrate the DPF for sale in a state that does emission testing?
