Re: 6.8L V10 exhaust and intake...

Ed charged me about $900 for the custome exhaust with flanges for easy removeal, a Flowmaster 70 series muffler and a resonator. I'm in La Mesa if any body wants to see it first hand.
The van shifts smother and sooner too!

Has anyone addressed the 3" pipe off the turbo and the choke points with the downpipe due to the doghouse?

Re: 6.8L V10 exhaust and intake...

I drove the rig about 50 miles since installing the headers. Wow, with the same throttle position I get about 8-10 more MPH and about 1.8 more MPG!

Did you install yourself or had someone do it? Did you watch them do it? I know getting those Headers off can be a pain.
Just curious how they did it.

I'm thinking of getting headers for the 460.
Heard it had a similar problem with V10 of header bolts searing off from heat/cooling cycle.
I have one bolt that popped. Hasn't effected anything but then again the headers are cast iron.
Most folks say one or two may be ok, if leakage is low.

I used to have one or two header bolts on my Bronco (351W) that would loosen up after a while. I got to be pretty good at replacing header gaskets. Got tired of doing that, so I replaced all my header bolts with locking bolts from this company, and haven't had a problem since.

Re: 6.8L V10 exhaust and intake...

I had JBA Performance Center in San Diego to the header install. I did not have eyes on the install but I know the guy who did the work and he does a good job. After a few hundred miles and several heat/cool down cycles you take the van back to JBA and they retourque the header bolts. This will be my third set of hearders bought from JBA (two Mustangs and now my SMB) and never has any problems. The shorty hearders are CA smog legal and are tested to provide about 70 more ft lb's of tourque.

Re: 6.8L V10 exhaust and intake...

Anyone know of a system other than the Banks? I am looking for a CAT back system. I've heard guys saying Magnaflow and such, but haven't been able to find a source.

I was going to have a shop custom bend one, but the shop around here acts like it is going to be a task and I fear the cost will reflect his inability to be unbiased...

Anyways, anyone have a source? I checked Summit and JEGs and nothing...

Would the F350 CAT back long bed version work?

Anyone? I am in dire need of an exhaust as the muffler has given up with rust!
