7.3 and Waste Vegetable Oil
Just wondered if anyone has tried setting up their rig for running WVO? Not that it would make any sense on the cost side of things, but let's be honest, thats not what SBMs are all about.

I personally would run WVO on any of the newer diesel engines. I'm hesitant to even run bio-diesel. I ran a low percentage bio-diesel one time with my '01 7.3L and I can't put my finger on it, but it did not run as well IMO.

I remember reading that the 7.3 could handle it if the oil was refined a bit and mixed with regular diesel. Don't put it in the 6.0.

I've had friends do both biodiesel and WVO conversions on older diesels, including one 7.3 van to WVO. You need to change out _all_ fuel line. If you miss some, it will eventually break down and clog.
The WVO needs to be filtered, which involves multiple containers and pumps.
The long term report on WVO was that while it worked, having drums of gross stuff sitting around in (a cramped bay area) driveway wasn't wonderful.

I have a few friends running wvo in 7.3 without issues. Just need to go with a two tanks system, properly filter your oil and properly operate your system. Mine is almost ready, just need to install my 2nd tank.
I've been running wvo for close to 10 years without issues and will continue to do so!

Wondering if anything ever came of this thread or if there is more info out there now. I have a 7.3 E-350 with a main and auxiliary tank (switched). What have people learned that worked or didn't work?

I ran home brew B100 in mine for 8 years no issue ever. Never did veggie but a good heated centrifuge system should work great. I’ve seen onboard systems before with a 7.3 that filtered on chassis with a centrifuge. Veggie is cool when it works. My buddy list injectors on his excursion with a veggie system but otherwise worked fine. It’s messy as $&@( picking up and storing the goo. I don’t miss it much based on mess and smell.

Between myself and 2 other buddies with the 7.3 we all converted our vans to run on WVO.
In the last 5 years we had no issues, just gotta do a proper install and make sure you use it properly. ie. Switch only when engine is warm (oil at 160 min) and purge properly. Together we've put thousands of miles so far.
Two of us are now running wvo on the 6.0 and they also love it but the install is a bit more complicated, nothing major though.
Go for it!

Is there a "definitive guide" to doing this on the 7.3? Also, where/how are you getting the WVO? How does this differ from B100?
