7.3 PSD Diesel Perfomance Mods
Hello, I recently purchased a 2001 E-350 4x4 that has a 7.3 PSD engine. I was searching online for a Tuner and Possibly a Intake for the Econoline platform. I seem to be getting Stumped ?
I'm not looking to get Wild. I'm just looking for a good Perfomance tuner for just a lil bit better mileage and a bit more power. Any and All suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks !

I know very little about the Diesel Upgrades but I did get a tune for my V10 from these guys and it's very good. They offer them for the 7.3l as well as some performance parts including your intake.

As for as a tuner for the 7.3 I CANNOT recommend the DP tuner. I have come to really dislike the way it performs. Others have experienced the same issues with the DP tunes surging at around 45 mph. It does not feel right at all.
Perhaps 5 Star has something for the 7.3 which works better. I hope so. I really would like to have the option of a tuner which works properly!

Beware, the 7.3L can't tolerate much tuning without the EGTs skyrocketing. You'll want to start by improving the exhaust (muffler and downpipe) and add an EGT gauge prior to any tuning.

A very big agreement on the EGT gauge as a mandatory add if wanting to go with a tune.

I have a tp performance chip. generally a 6 position setup, but for the van all they offer is a 4 position. stock, 50hp, 75hp, & 100hp. I put it on the 75hp and never mess with it. I have a 4" diamondeye turbo back exhaust and a bellowed up pipe kit. im happy with everything other than what the van does on a decel when the cc is on. for some reason it feels stumbly...if that makes any sense.

My 1996 is old enough to not have the same (if any worth while) tuning options. I have plans to add an intercooler to my 7.3, and have been slooooowly gathering parts.

I have a 4" turbo back, no cat. Gauges. Also a DP tuner, my highest tune is "daily 60hp", I also added the Garrett GTP38R upgraded turbo. It sure performs a lot better. Haven't really had any issues yet but I only have about 1000km on it so far.

Thanks Guys, i was fortunate enough to already have a EGR and Transmission Temp Gauges included when I purchased this rig. I'm trying to learn the differences between my 06 Duramax which was super easy. Banks Exhaust, Bullydog tuner and Airraid intake. This is a Proven combination that just runs flawlessly.
I'm learning that this 7.3 PSD is a entirely different Animal ! So I'm in the process of re-educating myself on a whole new drivetrain. Thanks again for any and all input.
