7.3 vs 6.0 comparison article

Not super technical but certainly covers the main points:

7.3L vs 6.0L Ford Power Stroke Diesel Engines

In a nutshell, the 7.3 is more reliable, more noxious emissions, less power, and louder. 6.0 requires bullet-proofing to be reliable but all the cons become pros after that.

The article misses one key point IMO. Even after bulletproofing, a single bad sensor or brittle wiring harness harness can leave the 6.0 dead on the side of the road. But the 7.3L can run poorly for a long time, other than the CPS, which I think everybody knows to carry a spare. And even beyond that... smack a deer with a 7.3L, you can limp home and just top off with water when temps go up. But anything that causes of loss of the cooling system pressure on the 6.0 has the possibility of creating hot spots that can cascade into something serious. It's just simply too sensitive to operating variables, and not everybody recognizes a problem soon enough to stop before consequential damage happens. But... I do really like driving a 6.0 when everything is up to snuff. It's simply more refined and less "trucky" than the 7.3. The the 5R100 is way better too.
