Re: 7 year/200K for Diesels
Scatter is exactly right, I just signed up for it and got the more comprehensive coverage, as my 3 yr "in service date" anniversary is this May, and therefore I signed up withing the 3-yr 36K window.

Re: 7 year/200K for Diesels
We just purchased our 2006 SMB and am considering this extended warranty. I just spoke with Jay but am looking for some advice. Being new to SMB, new to Ford, and most importantly new to the 6.0 Diesel is the $2,320.00 a good investment? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Re: 7 year/200K for Diesels
We purchased the 200k plan last year and I would be real nervous without it. We have used it twice since December. One of the nice benefits is you do not pay a deductable and with the exception of the first day car rental they pay for the rent -a-car. Ford has paid for 28 rental days out of 30. Even though the 100k warranty is still in effect, both recent claims were submitted under the 200K policy. Under the 100k policy, I would have paid a deductable and the car rental cost. So, IMO the $2,300 is good investment, especially with the 6.0 track record.

Re: 7 year/200K for Diesels
I mailed a check for $2,555.00 to Mr. Jay Minto
C/o Towne Ford
1601 El Camino Real
Redwood City , California 94063
(650) 562-2225
yesterday for the 21 point , 7 year , 200,000 mile extended warranty . I felt that this was a good option based on the positive reports from fellow Forum Members and is a transferable contract that may be worth something when I sell this vehicle . Jay was very gracious with his time and explanation and spent an inordinate amount of time answering questions that I posed

Re: 7 year/200K for Diesels
Just to bring this thread back from the dead. Jay is still offering the warranty, although it has become more expensive. The Diesel EngineCARE (13 covered components) is now $3250 and must be purchased within five years based on your in service date (mine is 10/15/2007) or 100k miles. You are basically adding an extra two years/100k miles to your warranty for the covered items (see below).
Even though it is extremely expensive, I'm leaning towards it. Tough call though. Like someone else said, if I buy it I will never use it and if I do not make the purchase, I'll definitely regret it.
Here is what is covered: - Internal Lubricated Parts[/*:m:30vzzwnh]
- Cylinder Block[/*:m:30vzzwnh]
- Cylinder Heads[/*:m:30vzzwnh]
- Oil Pump[/*:m:30vzzwnh]
- Timing Chain Cover[/*:m:30vzzwnh]
- Timing Chain (Gears or Belt)[/*:m:30vzzwnh]
- Turbocharger (Factory installed)[/*:m:30vzzwnh]
- Cylinder Head Gasket[/*:m:30vzzwnh]
- Crankcase Oil Cooler[/*:m:30vzzwnh]
- EGR Cooler[/*:m:30vzzwnh]
- Fuel Injection Pump[/*:m:30vzzwnh]
- Fuel Injection Pressure Regulator[/*:m:30vzzwnh]
- Fuel Injectors[/*:m:30vzzwnh]

Re: 7 year/200K for Diesels
To bring this thread back from the dead (again), our van is currently in the shop with a "sticking" TurboCharger. They are researching right now to determine if the TurboCharger is, in fact, covered as part of the 7yr/100k extended warranty.
The service tech I am working with thinks it is covered but wanted to check. Based on everything I read it should be covered. But I'm out of town and don't have access to my documentation right now.
Will let you all know what I find out. Basically the way we noticed soemthing was wrong was due to the engine losing a little power and then the limp home tripped one time.
Looking forward to a new Turbo frankly since I am told its significantly improved/updated from the one that came in the van (2006 Powerstroke 6.0 w 80k miles.)

Re: 7 year/200K for Diesels
Turbocharger is definitely covered (assuming it is factory installed), it was one of the primary reasons I purchased the extended warranty. Good luck.

Re: 7 year/200K for Diesels
People over worry about the 6.0 in my opinion. Any turbo diesel that is not driven often can carbon up or rust over time.
That said, anything can break and another way to look at is just put the few grand in your pocket. You can't beat the torque and low end grunt of the diesel.
