Re: 7 year/200K for Diesels

Thanks windandsea,

I fully expect it to be covered and I'm waiting to hear back.

Carl, based on my experience, there is no such thing as "over-worrying" about the 6.0 Powerstroke diesel, if it can break - it will.

My sticky turbo was covered 4 times with the last occurrence @ 6 year and 11 months into the 7 year warranty! I've now gone 2 years without a problem. knock knock knock. A reminder for everyone in California and maybe other states. Four repairs under warranty for the same issue is a magic lemon law number. Keep good records, consult a "no fee up front" lemon law lawyer and you might be able to recover uh... significant damages.

I think all that was done was to increase all the clearances around the vanes so that it took more carbon to make them stick and maybe an improved old drainage tube. You also are not guaranteed a new replacement turbo, the last 2 times they only cleaned mine and called it a day. If you do get a replacement it will most likely be a re-manufactured unit but I would expect by now those would all be the slightly improved model. Welcome to the twilight turbo zone!!!

Re: 7 year/200K for Diesels

Confirmed that the part and labor (turbo) was a covered repair and that it was replaced with a new (not refurb) part.

Although he wasn't 100% sure, he thought the part was improved from increased clearance on the vanes (as PatO pointed out) but also a Teflon or other type coating to reduce the coking possibly.

Whatever, I get it back and the warranty has long since paid for itself several times over now.

Hello All,

I am writing this post trying to find out if anyone has used there 7 year/200K, Diesel Engine Care Plus, Extended Service Plan for replacing the bed plate gasket and or the rear seal?

On June 23rd I took my SMB in to my local Ford dealer and it was diagnosed to have a leaking bed plate gasket and rear seal.

I would like to know if anyone has had problems with Ford honoring the Extended Service Plan.

Thanks in advance.
Woody
