Re: Auburn Gear LSD

Auburn is a good product as for it has been around for years.

I went with PowerLok for my E350 as for it has 4 spider gears unlike only two in the Auburn. Any two gear unit would be fine, it's not going to give it any more grip but 4 gears are stronger.

Re: Auburn Gear LSD

I'm happy with mine. It gets used a lot, as is evident by the clutch material worn off that gets drained out during oil changes.

Re: Auburn Gear LSD

I perfer a Detroit TrueTrac over any clutch type LSD as they wear and TrueTrack's do not have clutches to wear.
They also change the Torque not just try to turn both wheels at the same speed.

Re: Auburn Gear LSD

There is always some guy saying this that or the other thing is the thing, throw in a little palliative cliche ("if you're not going hardcore") and it sounds like advice.

What's hardcore anyway? I've seen guys in the backcountry of Kentucky snap the ball joint on a Rockwell 2.5 ton.

You should consider actual facts on what they do and weigh that against your budget and needs. Bones_GSXR's post is a good example, he's providing information about WHY he thinks Detroit is a good choice, information that you can evaluate.

Don't take "some guy"'s advice, figure out what you need and what fits the bill.

Sorry, I just see so much of this- it's like realtors, for some reason if you're buying or selling a house everybody and their brother feels the need to suggest their own realtor as if they would be any different.

*Anyway, well, it "looks like" Kentucky (ie. seen as in seen on YouTube...):

I do like my Torsen-style Detroit Truetrac.

Re: Auburn Gear LSD

Well I went ahead with it. Limited slip indeed! I think my fuel economy just dropped.
