Re: Aux Idle Control

Thanks for the quick response. I was thinking it to be a fuse or maybe the sensor for the parking brake got undone when the brakes were getting worked on. Or maybe the connection to the ECU itself worked loose as I have been on some pretty rough terrain the last few weeks. And there does seem to be power to the under dash switch so whatever it is is probably downstream of it. I'll get on this tomorrow. That is if it stops raining and snowing here in Colorado.

Jage, thanks for the offer.

Here are the direct links you may need.

The PTO wire bundle will have a bunch of wires with labels on, this explains each label.

This explains how to use them, if they are input or output signals etc etc
https://www.fleet.ford.com/TRUCKBBAS/no ... 38-341.pdf

This has pic's of where to find the wires, also brief description of the first 2 pdf's.

Good luck.

You can also get fuse diagrams directly from Ford.com under the Owner link at the top.

Re: Aux Idle Control

Well, I think I found the problem. I noticed the e brake light on the dash hadn't been coming on when the pedal was depressed so I began to trace the e brake switch wiring. I read that this may be an issue from the Diesel Site forum re: AIC's. Some one, or some thing, had neatly cut the wires about six inches from the e brake switch! So now I'm just trying to find the other ends so I can tie them back together. I suspect they're part of the pto bundle but I'm having a heck of a time finding 'em (red/green and brown or black). Now, why would anyone do this? All this happened right after I had the rear parking brake and rear caliper fixed.

The mystery continues.... Thanks all for the help.

Re: Aux Idle Control

Quick update- problem solved! The wire bundle that includes the red/green and black wires for the ebrake switch got too close to the ebrake mechanism when it was set, causing the two wires to snap at an already weakened point (wish I took pictures). Apparently, the wire bundle may not be secured in such a way as to prevent this type of mishap, as my mechanic has seen this thing before. After a re-splice, a better re-installation and alot of groaning, all is well- dummy dash board light and AIC works just fine.

It's remarkable how interconnected all this is. If the repair isn't done to factory specs I believe the cruise control, among other things, can malfunction.

Thanks again for the help with this.
