Best Performance Chip for 6.0 Diesel E-350 ??

Looking for info on who makes a good Performance chip that would safely give a little extra HP for Towing ? Interested in something for a 2006 Powerstroke 6.0 E-350. I'm guessing that there's a few different companies that make chips ? Some more popular than others ? Some more reliable or safer on your engine ? Any kind of info would be a great help. Thanks a lot.

I just pulled a 6,500lbs trailer cross country with no issues. If there were any performance problems I'd lay them on the squishy load D tires rather than the PowerStroke. I know a couple folks have chipped their vans with no problem but I'd be a little hesitant to with the warranty still in effect. Fuel prices being what they are I would be curious how some of the mileage mods work.

JBrush55,

I would suggest checking the forum on www.superdutydiesel.com. You should be able to find plenty of threads on chipping these motors.

It's not with a diesel - but I am currently using the SuperChips Tuner on my V10 and have no complaints w/ it. Currently I'm using their Performance Tow tune - need to use 91 octane but my mileage has been improved by a 1-1.5 mpg's over the 87 octane and the van pulls a tad harder and the tranny shift points have been tweeked a little too. Ran the math and it is actually cheaper for me to now run the 91 octane, go figure....

I have the SCT Live Wire, which comes with several programming options.

While I keep it on the TOW50 setting (50 hp more than the stock TRUCK program), I have played with the STREET program and it makes the van hustle. I think my reading was around 16-16.5 seconds at 91+ MPH in the 1/4 mile. This is from a 9000 lb van with a 3.55 rear.

All of the settings firm up the tranny shifts a little, too.

You can also get a custom program for your rig, which I've been telling myself to do for the past year or so...

I weighed my SMB only when it was brand new and it was about 8800 with a full tank of fuel but no water, passengers or gear on board. I haven't added much gear but figure about 200 lbs of "stuff", plus water and passengers.
