Black Smoke....Fault Codes?

You might call Jay Minto at Towne Ford in Redwood City ((650) 562-2225) and talk to him (and maybe his Service Manager) about the problem. Jay is the fleet manager for Towne Ford and provides SMB with all of their Ford vehicles. He is a good guy and I've had him offer to intervene on my behalf when my local Ford service rep gave me problem about the SMB conversion. Jay's Service Manager also helped out trying to solve another problem.

Looking for a little help here. The dealer is now saying that because the suspension has been "modified" it is taking 10 times longer to change/replace the EGR Cooler. Something about the spring shackles being moved forward and not allowing them to pull the value covers.

Since the van is not sitting in my driveway (rather, its been sitting at the dealer for a week and a half) I can't quite picture how this could effect anything.

Furthermore, I KNOW that several of the 6.0 owners have had this same problem (EGR Cooler replace) and I'm wondering if they heard similar grumblings. Christ, I had the HPOP replaced in a DAY so I can't quite figure out how this is more taxing.

My suspicion is that they hadn't even worked on it the whole time they have been saying "Oh yeah, we're working on it..." but wanted to see if anybody has real experience with this.

Anybody out there have experience?

The EGR/Oil coolers are on the top of the engine and access shouldn't be hindered by the shackles. Sounds odd. ***AGAIN>>>>>make sure that hey are replacing the oil cooler as well. It is usually the cause of EGR cooler failure.
