BPD oil cooler leaking oil lines?

Looking into bullet proofing my 2006 EB50 with the 6.0l i recently spoke to a BPD "preferred" installer. First he told me that they don't recommend the BPD oil cooler in Colorado due to cold temps; BPD told me that the cold weather kit makes it fine for cold weather states, no issues. When I told the installer that, he then said they have had issues with the oil lines on the cooler leaking, and they don't know why it was happening and they had tightened them as much as they could. Has anyone else had this problem?

Actually there are reported issues with the remote cooler in cold weather. Google the diesel forums. There's only a couple of members on this forum that have a BPD oil cooler (that I'm aware of anyway). It's a difficult retrofit for a van with aftermarket bumpers and cramped engine bay but it can be done.

You didn't ask for it but personally I don't think the remote oil cooler is necessary. Lots of other things to do while bulletproofing but if you've taken care of your coolant (either frequent change intervals of the Ford Gold or switching to an ELC) and installed a coolant filter you've addressed the cooling system issues that clog the OEM oil cooler. Monitor your EOT and ECT and you'll know if you have an issue.
