Unless it is the driver's side. Then you don't have to remove the motor mount.

I had one on each side replaced.

Re: Broken Axle

RiverGypsy,

You guys are really having a run of bad mechanical luck on this trip. I am sorry to hear about the multiple breakdowns. If you are headed though Seattle give me a shout and I will buy you a beer We also have a large yard where you can overnight if you need a spot.

Cheers
John

Thanks, John!

If we come through Seattle, we will probably motor straight through (assuming the motor is still motoring). We're throwing a river festival in Whistler on the 24th, so ideally that will be the last stop on this trip before we head home and get to work paying off the credit card bills from this.

If it looks like we're stopping over in Seattle, I'll let you know.

Re: Broken Axle

You should be able to locate a full float sterling 10.5 at an auto salvage yard for anywhere from $300 - $800 which is less than the price of the cromo axles for the semi float stock dana 60. The sterling 10.5 is a workhorse used on F350 Super Duty trucks and I believe some of the F450 and F550's as well.

Re: Broken Axle

F-450 uses a Dana 80. F-550 uses a Dana 135, according to this:

Having broken an axle once, I don't ever want that to happen again...

Thanks-
Your experience convinced me to upgrade to a full floating axle. The semi-floater on an E350 is rated at 6340#, the full floater is rated at 7800#. I found one with the correct disc brakes and ABS - open 3.55 ratio. New Ring and Pinion and TrackLock $1500.
