Bully Dog Triple Dog GT, will it work in my Van?

Hey all,

I have a 2003 7.3L with around 115k miles on it. Engine runs well. The only thing is I have no RPM gauge, and for MPG I usually just track my miles compared to what I put in at the pump. It would be nice to be able to monitor my RPM, MPG and maybe get a bit better fuel ecomony.
So I am wondering, will this programmer work with my van? It says it works with a f-series 7.3L of the same year. Is there any difference between the F-series and the E-series that would make this not work? What are my other options?
If anyone has ran this I would appreicate hearing about it. I have a good deal on one.

You can get a Scangauge for around $160.

From BulletProof Diesel it comes preprogrammed.

Yes, the Scangauge is the way to go for sure.

Yes, there are differences between the F series trucks and E series vans with the 7.3 The vans have a smaller turbo and no intercooler. There are big differences between a programmer and a tuner, most programmers are pre-tuned and most are for the F series, unless they specify they are for the E, I would not use them. There are several tuners out there that specifically offer tunes for the E series, I got a BD tuner, piggybacks a chip unit that is loaded with their tunes of your choice that comes with a switch so you can change on the fly to your desired setting(80HP daily, 60HP tow..)works really well and wakes the big beast up! I also have and would recommend getting a scangauge for all your monitoring needs.
Just for reference, I started off with a Edge programmer with their monitoring gauge, it didn't do much for the performance then it started going haywire in Moab out in the middle of nowhere, had to shut things down and restart after putting us into limp mode too many times to count, had to yank it when I got back home.

Thanks a lot for the help. I don't think I'll go with the bully dog. The scan gauge seams like a lot better option. I went to bullet proof diesel and didn't see anything for the 7.3 that is compatable with the E-series. I'll try and find the scan gauge for the 7.3. Would be nice to just install the scan gauge for now then I can install a tuner down the road.

You can link them together so you can read 4 more modes per unit. I have a second Scan Gauge I plan to install.
