MKRacer is correct in how or if to do this. Even though I have the new parts now my E250 seemed to develop this fault during its first for me road trip. I had tools on board to wire a jumper into that circuit and its been in place ever since. Lazy I am at times...........
Removing the actual switch can be done without draining or otherwise disturbing the master cylinder. Have a few rags ready or laid under the m/c to catch the small amount of fluid that might drain out. Keep the new switch in hand and ready to put into place as the old one is removed to lessen any leaks. Most likely you'll have less than a tea spoon worth anyway.
Check and re-fill the reservoir as needed, reconnect the wiring harness connector and you're done.
