Diesel Mechanic in the SF Bay Area?

Hi,

I've got an 05 6.0 PSD that occasionally fails to start. This is an intermittent problem, I drive some where, park and when I try to restart the engine it cranks but doesn't start. I then get towed home and then it will start.

Towne Ford has the van now but they can't reporduce the problem so they can't fix it. So I need to find an experienced mechanic with the 6.0 liter engine.

Any ideas?

Thanks
David

I visited them about an engine check light a few years back (just a dirty EGR valve) and all they wanted to do was sell me a $12,000 bulletproofing job without checking anything.

Thanks for answering my post.

It's been years since I used them, and not quite in the Bay Area, but I had good work from Ken Imler Diesel (Imler Diesel Performance) in Sacramento.

I've used Left Coast Diesel in Livermore, good reputation, they are not afraid to work on vans. I understand they have a second branch in Walnut Creek or Concord, same owners I think. I've also used Reliable Automotive in Antioch, they specialize in Diesels, are very experienced with Fords, I had a good experience there.

Thanks for the reference.

Based on another thread on this board, I had a pretty good idea what was wrong.

I described my problem over the phone and they made a guess. I brought it in, they verified the problem, and they fixed it (bad high pressure oil pump).

Thanks again,

David
