My prediction:

Coming soon... Banks Engineering finned aluminum diff covers optimized for fluid flow and heat transfer.

ATS, PPE, AFE and others scratching heads as to why sales have plummeted...

Perhaps--and BTW in no way do I consider myself anything even close to a "brainiac".

However those who "over think" even a little often times initiate action that eventually improves upon something---in this case potentially money saving and performance improvements over what's become conventional wisdom regarding bigger differential covers.

Before Gale's investigation I was under the impression more and bigger is better so I've learned a lot thus far. Regardless whether Gale's research yields new products or not a data base is being built that can be used as a decision making guide for anyone considering tinkering with this part of the drive train.

I've found it all very interesting---will continue to watch for the next installment.

You'll have to figure out the lighting on your own, but the clear covers have been around for a while. And you thought you were being funny.

Herb
Well that's a huge booy-yeah huh? In yer face sorta thing! I do notice those in the link show as "clearance items" which typically means they are or have been discontinued?

This series is very interesting and I see Gale's point about work being done to the fluid. I'm wondering how practical or impractical it would be having something like a dry sump oiling system aka NASCAR engines? Would it be able to better direct the fluid directly to the parts most needing lubrication rather than just bathe them?

Honestly I don't know how many differential failures occur in any one time period or if one brand over another experiences more issues. I'm sure if a dry sump system existed it would have a market across all sorts of heavier duty trucks.

Interesting videos though---Gale's documentation will generate a lot of interest I'm sure.

Exactly. Gale Banks is first and foremost a businessman. It seems to me those videos are timed in their release, all part of marketing and product release, not because of video production time. My guess is new cast aluminum Banks covers are in the foundry, on-deck for machining, and ready for testing.
