I would not count on any aftermarket alloy 16" wheel to clear the '08+ calipers. It's a tight fit with factory wheels.

My question is, whould American Racing AR172 16 inch on 8" fit with the bigger brakes (08+) my Van has?
Or could you recommend other after marked rims for my Van?

I understood going for 17" rims would be the easier way, but tires and rims are much more expensive.

Thanks!

Martin I can upload more images of the '08 calipers & rotors temporarily installed on a stock 16" Ford factory steel wheel if that might be helpful? In fact I'll probably upload nearly every image I snapped when doing this swap on my 2003 E250 EB.

This might take a few hours (busy fitting an engine pre-oiling system right now)---these will be in my Imgur account and a link posted here.

Hope that proves useful.

I have a 1992 e250, and I believe there are some slight differences in the front end compared to those built in 1998 onward (correct me if I'm wrong). I'm not looking to do a full front end swap, and I'd like to keep my stock 16" steelies which use the 8x6.5" bolt pattern. Specifically, I'm trying to figure out the following:

1. Can we still use our existing knuckle? I believe they are the same, but not 100% sure.
2. Any impacts on the master cylinder?
3. Any issues fitting the new brake hardware on a pre-1997 van? I know the stock 16s are supposed to accommodate but not sure if the design changed over the years.

Thanks to all the previous posters, this thread has answered so many of my questions already!

I did it on my 95 it didn't have any issues.

@JWA, thanks for the offer (pictures) but I think it's quite clear for me how tight that is.

Finaly I understand to not count on 16" after market rims on 08+ brakes.
Either get some 16" Ford rims or 17" after market rims.

If I go for 17" aloy rims I assume to preferable take the same offset and backspace as Ford OEM wheels.

What is the Ford OEM stock rim offset?

I read prety often it is 0mm and sometimes +6mm.

Getting ready, collecting parts

Hi Guys, my van is ready for a new set of front rotors, after a trip to Utah the front right side ended up metal to metal.

I've started to look for the parts in eBay and I can't seem to find the "full kits takeoff" anymore. I found all the parts by themselves and the total is around $1k. Do you guys have any tips on places tho save some $$ on parts?

This is my list so far:
- 2 x Mount kit 8C2Z-2C150-C

- Front Brake Disc Rotor & Hub Assembly OEM NEW

- 4 x Caliper mounts bolts

- 2 x Caliper brakets BRBC7 8C2Z-2B292

If you have any 4x4 converters near you contact them for take-off parts.

I'd contact a local Ford dealer for the calipers----they might come loaded or unloaded meaning with or without pads. As much as I dislike RockAuto I'd check with them for Motorcraft parts then see if eBay has them for a good price using the Mototcraft part number.

JWA,
I would greatly appreciate your supplier information? Might be a dumb question, is your van 4X4?
