Re: Engine Mods for the V10 Ford what have you done

What years got the V10 and 5 speed auto? Was that a good tranny?

The trans is the 5R110. Can't help you on the years though.

I think the 5-Speed started in 2005 - at least it did on the cutaways with V-10. I suppose the "plain" vans might be different, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were also 2005.

2005 is correct. Mines a 2005 with the 5 speed tranny and V10.

But proper gearing is for sure the best bang for the buck. An over-geared V10 will be constantly downshifting because its out of its powerband.

The AFE intake really improved low RPM torque surprisingly. I don't know how it affect an otherwise stock V10, but it was well worth it to me. The programmer allows me to take advantage of the extra power (in addition to adding its own) by letting it stay in a high gear more often, but also revving up higher to make the most HP when I need it.

That said... Ford what I spent on all those upgrades.... if I built a van that wasn't towing so heavy and so often, I'd be awfully tempted to just slap a remote-mount turbo on it.
Hi @carringb,

On the Banks website, they list the PowerPack as fitting E-350 Motorhome. I asked their online support whether this pack will fit a 1998 E-350 EB V10 Van, but he/she just said “the fitment wasn’t confirmed” or some such. Did you or your installer need to do any additional work, or does the “E-350 Class C” kit fit?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, the motorhome kit fits all V10 vans. Just make sure to match with or without EGR. The driver side collector does sit close to one of the plastic brackets holding the rear HVAC lines. This should get some heat-shield-tape to keep it from warping and letting go of the lines.

Thanks! Forgot to mention, mine is a Quigley 4x4. Sounds like the transfer case *could* be an issue, too?

I appreciate the help. I’m not well-versed in exhaust, but since someone decided to saw off my catalytic converter, I decided to take this opportunity to refresh everything down there.

Banks PowerPack will NOT work with 4x4. The driver side header conflicts with the T-case and driveline.
