Engine Oil Temperatures

Have any of you with a Scan Guage been able to determine your 6.0 Turbo Diesel's Oil operating temperature norm ? I have gone thru Ford Manuals , checked with five different Ford dealerships , called FORD MOTOR CO. , searched the internet and still haven't found anyone with any legitimate printed information . I spent the first nine month's of ownership with a faulty Clutch Fan that has been rectified , thanks to Scatter and his finding's , I now operate at Water Temperatures between 185 and 220 degree's . The high end has been at altitude while pulling gradients . The reason that I pose this question to you all is I am having
SOLO Motor Sports custom build an engine oil cooler to allow me control of these temperature's while pulling under load and I am wondering if 650 CFM cooling will be sufficient . I know that Oil Temps coincide with Water Temps and hopefully can maintain my
temperature range average between 180 and 200 degree's much as the Trophy Trucks do at their limits of speed and ambient temperature's . Incidentally I am having this Fan Assembly
built with a manual dash mounted switch that will allow me to control the fans operation as needed . Any comments or thoughts are appreciated .

Re: Engine Oil Temperatures

The optimum engine oil sump temperature is 120C to 150C for maximum oil life. Below that there is a tendency to retain moisture and above 150C the additive package starts to suffer.
