Engine shutting down while driving

I own a 2014 e350 with the 5.4l and twice now it's turned off while driving, no warning at all. All the alert lights turned on, on the instrument panel and then every thing turned off instantly as if the battery died. No lights, radio, nothing at all. I stopped put it in park and had nothing. I pulled the negative off the battery, put it back on and everything powered up like nothing happened and the van starts right up. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas what it might be? Any help is greatly appreciated, I live a couple hours from the closest ford dealer.

Sometimes battery connection can look good a first glance. Best to go through the easy stuff first. Look closely at the terminal ends for any white of greenish tints. Check all the grounds on the engine or frame. Sometimes a ground looks good and just needs to be cleaned and tightened.

Google " OBD2 bluetooth dongle"
But I'm sure you would have known if you had...

I have a 2006 with the 5.4 and this exact same issue was happening with my van. Turned out to be the battery connection.

Our 2009 died. Turned out to be loose wiring in the dash. Was warranted.

I fear if it is due to worn out ignition. check for a bad fuel pump. Security features might get messed up

FWIW, I'm working on the rear of my van and I removed and reinstalled the trailer hitch....in doing so, I had to loosen a ground wire to the frame next to the spare tire.

......while this ground was loose (not fully disconnected) the van wouldn't start....tightened it back up last night and van starts fine. I suspect it's the ground leg of the fuel pump.
