Finally got my Amsoil filters...Now which one goes where?
So after a little bit of research and much procrastination on my part I finally ordered Amsoil filters and some oil. I am ready to do a filter change but I am faced with a bit of a dilemma. The filters that are on the Amsoil system now are not Amsoil filters but are instead Wix filters. And the filters I just received from Amsoil are both black. I remember reading somewhere that one was white and one is black but that is not the case for the filters I received. The new Amsoil filters I have are:
EaO26 and EaBP100
I guess one is the bypass and one is the full-flow. They are noticeably different from each other but the wix filters that are currently on the van are nearly identical.
So my question is which one goes toward the front and which one goes toward the rear? Thanks...

The EaBP100 should be the front one. EaO26 to the rear.
Have fun....

Scatter, thanks...I almost determined this on my own but just wanted to make sure...
Now, which one needs topped off with oil? Both of them?

Before installing the new filters, fill both with oil. It doesn't need to be overflowing, like 4/5 full should be more than fine.

Re: Finally got my Amsoil filters...Now which one goes where?
It is probably obvious, but why fill up the filters before installing? I've never done this (which doesn't make it right of course).

Re: Finally got my Amsoil filters...Now which one goes where?
I remember reading somewhere (I think the piece of paper that came with my SMB) that one needed filled and that the other one would fill up after 100 miles. On the amsoil filter boxes it says to fill with oil before installation. I guess it would make sense to do it because if you start with empty filters you're going to be a couple of quarts low in a few miles anyway...

Re: Finally got my Amsoil filters...Now which one goes where?
I plan to fill both filters prior to installation, if for no other reason than as the filters fill up with the oil pan oil, the total oil level would be low.
FWIW, the AMSOIL rep that SMBw uses (Jim) does not recommend the EA026. PLENTY of information, discussion, tension on that issue in another post here.

Wait...why doesn't he recommend the EA026? And what is a good alternative?

Jim states the EA026 filter is too restrictive, and recommends a Donaldson 553411, also sold by Amsoil. All the gory details, as well as some conflicting opinions are in this thread.
