Finding a full floater

Anyone have a good source for finding a factory full float D60? I have run out of luck searching locally here in the Western Slope in Colorado. Lot's of F series but no E series.

Santa Clara Truck Wreckers in CA can set you up with a D70 full floater. I suspect your truck wreckers have more D70 than you realize. They came on many E350 cutaways that become delivery vans, etc.

Thanks Mike, I'll give them a call. The problem with my area here is that it's a small town and i've checked all of the wrecking yards. Denver and SLC are the only sizable cities and their both 250 miles from here. I suppose I could check with some of those yards too.

Re: Finding a full floater

The one I got was setup for my year (04) and had the correct tone ring and sensor for the ABS. All I did was pull my brakes off, support them and swap axles and parking brake cables. Then my calipers and rotors went back on. Didn't even have to bleed the brakes. Cost was $1500 including a ratio change and a new limited slip differential.

You won't regret it after you make the change.

Good luck,

Mike

Re: Finding a full floater

What Mike said. SCTW are good people and I know they will ship to you (he mentioned an axle he shipped to Hawaii, so I'm sure he'd ship to CO).

I think Mike went with the stock width axle and uses spacer/adapters. I got a wider axle that no longer requires the spacers. Overall, it is about 2" wider (1" on each side), but not visually noticeable unless you are really looking for it.

Re: Finding a full floater

I called SCTW and can get a D60 full float with 4:10's and limited slip for $1500. Problem is, they don't ship. Anyone want to bring me an axle? I'll buy a tank of gas!

It's in Santa Clara, California. I'd love to go get it but it's a 2k mile round trip for me.

Re: Finding a full floater

I just got a quote of $335 to ship an axle from Santa Clara CA to Albuquerque, NM. Maybe another $50-75 for the pallet. That gets the axle to you for around $1700.

Re: Finding a full floater

Hmmm.....

Maybe we could meet at Gooseberry Mesa (roughly half way point?), I could deliver the axel and we could get some riding in.

Hmmmm......
