First Oil Leak

Just noticed I have my first oil leak.

Bussy cooking Turkey, so don't have time to dig in, but...

It appears to be engine oil. It is coming down from the passenger side, landing on the axle, then running to the pumpkin.

Wondering if there are any known problem areas on the passenger side I should focus my attention on...

Thanks.

Re: First Oil Leak

It's not an oil leak, it's a rust preventative.

Re: First Oil Leak

Herb,

I like how you think!

Upon further review, I think (hoping really) that I am looking at transmission fluid leaking from the aftermarket aux cooler that I had installed like John & Dana - viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2921&start=60&hilit=transmiss ion+cooler

Re: First Oil Leak

That should be easy. Touch it with a paper towel, Trans fluid is red, oil is tan-brown-black.

First Oil Leak

Yea, my initial impression was that it was reddish. But, not thinking about the transmission coolers up front, talked myself into thinking it was more brownish because I couldn't think of a red fluid that far forward (too much turkey and wine on the brain).

I'm due for a round of fluid changes anyway, so I should be able to confirm soon.

First Oil Leak

Confirmed red fluid (nice call on the paper towel). Appears to be coming from the primary transmission cooler off the passenger-side connection.

Good news is that's easy to access and might be covered under warranty depending on how the dealership feels about my aftermarket aux cooler...

Re: First Oil Leak

New clamp installed under warrantee to the passenger side hose of the stock transmission cooler. Problem fixed. Back to no leaks (knock on wood).
