Ford replacement wiring harness purchase?

Hello,

Has anyone bought a Ford replacement engine wiring harness? Is this something that is still available for a 2006 6.0 diesel E350?

This is related to my question earlier about a random crank no start situation, and the reply mentioning a similar problem was fixed when a wiring harness chaffing issue was repaired.

I had a problem years ago and was told the a portion of the wiring harness was replaced. The portion replaced was the section that connected to the transmission and speed sensor.

Thanks,

Brian

I had may 2007 6.0L engine harness replaced a year or two ago. It did take some searching by my master diesel mechanic to find the correct unit. Engine runs so much better after. Only use an experienced 6.0L technician. He'll find the part by the VIN.

Thanks for the info. Good to hear it ran better afterwards.

That MSRP plus sketchy availability would have me removing the entire harness (if feasible) and repairing it end-to-end, clean it thoroughly and pay attention to the connector pins and the housing too.

FWIW I'm thinking I need a driver's side COP/injector harness and would spend the necessary money but talking with my Ford parts guy he says there are no parts number listed for it in his catalog, I'd have to look at the affected harness seeking any usable part numbers on it.

Whatever this repair ends up being I hope its quick, easy and cheap!

So is this no longer an option to purchase a new harness?

Copied from this post. https://www.sportsmobileforum.com/fo...s-23570-2.html

Go to Fordpartsgiant.com or TASCA Ford parts. I got a new ford complete engine harness for about $600. Sure beats the list price. Part # 6C2Z-12B637-UA
6C2Z-12B637-UA
Wire Assy
Main Harness - Engine , Navistar I.D. # 1846759C9*
Production Date: 10/2005-06/2007
Base Number: 12B637
Callout Name: 12B637
List $1389.38 $750.96
The guys at Tasca were really helpful. (you will have 15 minutes of wait time but they will answer, I couldn't get them to return a call though) You need to get the harness code off the tag under the Air intake.

If these are becoming unobtainium like everything else thes days I may need to pull the trigger and throw it on the shelf. I guess one could rebuild a harness with new wire, plugs, and pins as a snowy day project. Based on the physical appearance of my harness I'm amazed I haven't had any issues. Knock on titanium.

Note the van harness is one piece, and is different from the truck harness (It is broken up into multiple pieces.

When I stuffed a new motor, I replaced my harness, I think they will eventually be globally unavailable.

First place I would call for a used harness is a ambulance wrecker yard.
