Re: Front drive shaft contacts my oil filter
When mine hit (Passenger back tire in the air) it crushed the edge of the mating surface between the filter and the block adapter. I finished the trail, drove 15 miles, stopped for dinner and then drove 50 miles home without a problem. It wasn't until it sat in my driveway for several hours and it cooled down. When I started it up to move it over it started spraying a stream from the damaged area. I had a big V shaped oil stain on my driveway and street for about 2 years after that. The block adapter was ruined and none were available because the engine was still so new to Ford. So the AMSOil Bypass was really my only solution. Of course I meticulously followed the SMB install instructions and so for 4+ years after that the oil was circulating in reverse. The moral of the story - following Mikes suggestions might not fully mitigate the issue under extreme front driver side compression. Of course the difference between stock and the BPD oil filter adapter might make some difference to that risk.
