Get build sheet from VIN?

I think i'm going to replace the rear axle on my quigley 2000 e350. Quigley says my rear axle is the factory oem and that I should be able to get the specs from Ford with my VIN.

Does anyone have a link or service that I can use to get my build sheet from the VIN? There is no tag on the diff anymore and it is too rusted to really see any details on it.

thanks,

Don't know about Fords but for my B350 Dodge project the nearest dealer could provide build sheets from the VIN at no charge. Good luck!

I hit my diff case cover with a wire wheel and it came up pretty nice: I was able to read the previously invisible markings. Also take a pic of the marks with your phone and play with the settings afterwards. Often you’ll be able to see stuff that your eyes didn’t originally pick up.

There is a good probability that the ratio was changed. Most people don't just toss the tag. Depending on the miles the oil may have been changed only once if at all. If you pull the cover and can mark your pinion to count the teeth then count the ring gear and divide them. That'll give you the ratio.

I went to the parts department at my local Ford dealer and asked about getting the build sheet for my E350. No problem - they printed it right out using the VIN number. Lots of good info on that, good reference for any future work I might want to do.
