Well, I am glad it wasn't as bad as what you and others thought it was.
It's unfortunate that anything bad had to happen in the first place

Agreed, great news considering where you had gotten to but maybe not where you’d started.

I'll chime in with my own good news on it NOT being more serious---facing an unknown situation with a Ford reman'd engine experiencing issues after just 1700 miles I fear the worst but hope for a simple easy fix.
Do the leaking meth system issues affect the engine's longevity?

I'm curious about that as well. So the methanol entered the cylinders and caused the hydrolock? If you were going to order new heads when you thought the coollant caused the hydrolock, why wouldn't you order new heads due to the methanol causing the hydrolock?
Don't get me wrong, I love that you got some major good news and I'm sure your bank account is happy as well, I'm just hoping to really understand what's going on.

If you have coolant in the cylinders, and it's not from the EGR cooler, that means either the head gaskets are probably leaking, but also a chance they are cracked. Methanol can only come from one place, so if you eliminate that source, it can't happen again.
I'd certainly do a cranking cylinder contribution (aka relative compression test) before fire it up, just to verify lack of consequential damage.

Just kidding
I haven't seen widespread complaints of leaky nozzles, but a little digging shows it does happen. I wonder if storage tank elevation affects the outcome of a leak.
I'm considering adding it to my Focus ST. I figure a meth/water system would help keep the valves clean, and the added torque would just be a bonus.

We plan on doing a reliability work over before getting it back on the road. This means verifying a no damage assessment, and taking some steps to help it going forward. One thing Rob feels very strongly about after having built 100's of these motors is that the tune is a big cause of the issues. He avoided directly telling me to ditch the tune but in everything he explained to me essentially said this. I really like the power and have come to love tunes after owning so many diesels. Economy almost always improves as does power at the same time. I plan on reviewing this once again. The other thing I want to address now what cooling improvements can be done.

Anyways, yes, I was wondering what meth+oil would do when mixed together. My guess is that's a pretty bad combination for the lubricating system..

Good news no doubt - and a true emotional rollercoaster. Someone is watching over you, with at least one eye anyway.
