These guys make me feel better! 283,000 miles here, and working on a 4x4 conversion as well. Glad I'm not the only one dumping money into a van with nearly 300K on it!

Stock
Switched to Amsoil at 7500miles and never drained the pan till 500k. Just kept sending in oil analysis every 12,500. Would replace the filter and top off with new 15w-40
Tranny serviced every 50k with new filter. I would remove the return line to the cooler and run 1 qt out, stop motor, top off, and do gain till new oil came out. I know that I will need a rebuild sometime.
Van towed a 28' center console boat till 03 then a 32' Center console boat till this April. Total weight 24,142lbs when weighed in April.
Van is in body shop now getting a new coat of black paint, interior rebuild, shoes 305-70-16, and injectors "baby swamps" and glow plugs, 4" exhaust and an intercooler set up. Hopefully she will last me another 500k
Now THAT is impressive. But I'm confused on the oil, you are saying you never changed it between 7500 and 500,000, just topped it off when replacing the filter?

How did you fit an intercooler into the van?

I sold mine a few years ago I really miss my 7.3 SD. It had over 200k on it when I sold it and never had any issues other than maintenance and glow plugs. My uncle had a 1997 that had over 700k on it before he finally decided to get rif of it. That one did have a trans replaced, glow plugs, injectors, a turbo and the HPOP but for almost a million miles it was a solid motor. Someone is still driving it around he just got a steal on a low mileage 1999 and got it. That 7.3 is the best diesel out there in my opinion. Just a side note if you have Orieley auto parts around you they carry almost all the Motorcraft parts you would ever need for it for way less than the dealer

We never did finish the intercooler install. Could not find anyone that would bend the pipes for me. Then I needed the van so the project ended.....587k now........that is correct on the oi...just topped it off with a new filter.
