Mild lift (wheels, suspension, body)

I'd like my SMB to ride a little higher. And I'd like to minimize rollover potential increasing.

Going from 225/75/16 tires to 245s raises the entire van 0.59 inches.

Would anyone recommend or have info on a mild suspension lift (say 1 inch) and a mild body lift (another inch?) I'm looking for relatively cheap, easy methods. Bigger tires alone don't work for me since they raise the entire center of gravity.

Thanks in advance.

Tom

I don't think you can do a body lift with the SMB built- I know that the dealerships have to remove the engine out the front instead of lifting the body off, I'm not sure why.. certainly where there is a will, but you want to check what all is dependant on the frame first.

Re: Mild lift (wheels, suspension, body)

I am having National Spring make a 2in lift with custom coils and leafs. I did not want to go any higher as vans are pretty tall allready. The 2in will let me run 315's with out them looking shoved in the wheelwells.

Thanks. I'll look into that. Is the 2" lift going to require modifications/adjustments to other components or just the springs and leafs?

I'd like to hear how it goes--although I'm already having trouble hauling my fat self in to the rig.

Re: Mild lift (wheels, suspension, body)

I will need to correct the shock mounts in the rear, replacing them with mounts that look and function better than the Quigley mounts. aAs for the front I will be making new track arms as the will need to be a small amount longer. The ends will either be a teflon lined joint or polyurethane as teflon has a harsher ride. I am still doing the figures and will not be installing it untill sometime in July.

Re: Mild lift (wheels, suspension, body)

Tom, just out of curiosity, why do you want your SMB to ride a little higher? My stock 4WD 2005 rides pretty high right out of the factory, and if I didn't have hoop steps, would have to work just to get in the door.
